Congratulations to Natasha on successfully defending her PhD thesis proposal, “Profiling active extracellular matrix proteins in a fibrotic environment using multimodal Raman Microspectroscopy and Machine Learning”!

In her work, Natasha is focusing on improving our understanding of asthma - as it affects nearly 10% of Canadians and represents a major health and economic burden, costing an estimated $41 billion annually. By combining Raman microspectroscopy and second harmonic generation imaging with machine learning, she is capturing lung-specific tissue signatures in their near-native state, providing unprecedented insight into how fibrotic changes arise and contributing to paving the way toward therapies that target the structural progression of asthma.

Congratulations, Natasha!
